Sight: people draped over benches and along the edges of the walls sprawled out sleeping like a giant slumber party with really hard beds, the Southern Cross and the Big Dipper together in the same sky, brightly patterned cloth everywhere, aprons used in maternity to cover up during deliveries, the never ending search for your patients' charts amongst the mess of papers and books

Smell: latex gloves, blood, body odor, rotting mangos, heat mixing with humanity

Sound: mangos thudding as they plop to the ground from the trees, babies crying in concert around the pediatric or maternity ward, crickets, alarms on monitors beeping and buzzing, the squirting of ultrasound gel to check baby's heart, three part harmony as people burst into songsmith rhythm welling up in them

Feel: sticky humid air, the instant relief when you walk outside into fresh air from the stuffiness of a hospital or clinic room, sweat dripping down your face and body as you wear two or three layers to do an operation, a warm swollen elbow you feel on a patient, contorting in strange positions to fit more people in on a bench

Taste: mango fresh from the trees, peanut sauce on chicken, hot bouille from a bag, refreshing soda on a hot day
