Every day is 'labor day' here in Honduras. Our next holiday coming up is 15 de Septiembre, aka Independence Day. There are parades and fireworks and dances.
This morning got me thinking about a Spanish turn of phrase. Parto is the word we use here for delivery. When a woman comes in with labor pains, they say she is in trabajo de parto: literally 'work of delivery.' Seems like a pretty good description to me!
