In Spanish, pretty much all the letters are the same as English, but many of them have different pronunciations. J (jota) is pronounced like the English H, H (hache) is silent, and G is also often pronounced like an H. My Spanglish is advancing by leaps and bounds, and I now confidently guess at words that I don't know, sometimes with hilarious results.
Today I asked the medical assistant to pass me the gel for ultrasound. It was hard to contain my laughter when she corrected my Spanish pronunciation from 'jell' to 'hell'.
